Here’s a pressing that deserves serious attention from anyone collecting traditional Irish folk or early Columbia folk releases. The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem’s “In Concert” captures one of the most influential Irish-American folk acts at their absolute peak, recorded during the height of the folk revival when they were practically synonymous with Irish traditional music in North America. This group single-handedly introduced countless Americans to authentic Irish ballads and drinking songs, and their energetic performances helped bridge the gap between old-world tradition and the burgeoning 1960s folk scene that spawned Dylan, Baez, and countless others.
