Here’s a fascinating piece of Rita Coolidge’s catalog that often gets overlooked by casual fans but shouldn’t be ignored by serious collectors. “Love Me Again” represents Coolidge at a creative crossroads in 1978, moving away from her country-rock roots toward a more sophisticated pop sound that incorporated elements of chanson – a direction that would influence her work throughout the late ’70s and early ’80s. This album showcased her remarkable vocal range and interpretive skills on material that was more adventurous than her previous mainstream releases, making it something of a hidden treasure in her discography.
